Dana Guess, Certified Life Coach

As a single mother of two adult children and retired public school educator, I have developed a passion for helping others through the life changes that are sometimes difficult to manage logistically and/or emotionally.  Transitions happen.  Those transitions are often difficult to welcome.

I have 20+ years of experience working with children/young adults ages 14-20 with a vast array of personal issues.  In addition,  I have worked with parents of these children/young adults to help them design a plan to best parent a young person during this life transition.  A child becoming an adult is a transition that can bring about much confusion for both the parent and the child/young adult.

I have an especially strong passion/experience with families who are dealing with LGBTQ+ issues.  The person in the family who is "coming out" has a unique set of challenges.  Additionally, the family is adjusting to information that might be surprising/confusing.  Extended family members might be "trying to help," but their efforts could be "making things difficult".  Professionally, I have worked with a great number of young adults and their families.  My own family went through this experience and I can relate to the family on a personal level as well.

After 20+ years of being happily married, I was shocked to learn that I was beginning the process of a divorce.  This was not a transition I wanted at all.  My journey from then until now is full of both pain and joy.  There are so many logistical issues about going from a married woman to a single woman.  I enjoy helping other women who are going through similar experiences.

Finally, I enjoy helping others welcome a variety of transitions in their lives.  After we talk initially, I am able to determine if I have the skills to coach you successfully.  If I am not confident that I am the right coach for you, I will gladly help you connect with someone who can give you the support you need.
